In the 21st century of the materialistic world it is been said that the luxury is very easy to achieve. As the technology is developing day by day, a man is also becoming more dependent to it than the self-dependent. Technology has reached today to every single door. Due to this the definition of happiness has also been changed. Today’s men are searching happiness in the wave of materialistic things. But, is happiness all about to have such kind of materialistic luxuries…?? No... Never!
Before some years only, while showering blessings upon us, our elders usually were heard saying, “May God keeps u healthy!” or “Aarogya: Bhava”. In fact, health is most precious than any other luxury. There is one proverb in English which we usually read and write – Health is Wealth!! But today with due sadness we should have to accept this fact that we are actually ignoring and loosing this blessed boon gifted from God.
There are some devils wearing the mask of humans, today, are gaining a lots of benefits from us due to our ignorance towards our health. This is one absolute bitter fact about which today we are least bother to know and understand. And such kind of our carelessness has taken a form of trading in the name of health. Actually this ignorance is digging a grave for our future and for the future of coming generations.
Today in the world, health has become a commodity. It has been sold, bought and robbed- if truly say! One thing should have to understand very clearly that today there are thousands of pharmaceuticals companies which are without our knowledge and permission doing trading of our health.
One may wonder after reading this, that how can be this possible as today whole people are knowing that pharmaceuticals companies are manufacturing so many beneficial medicines been used to save lives and treat diseases. Right – but this is nothing but a big fuss!! As I said earlier too that today our health has been traded as a commodity. So health is today no more but been seen and sold as commercial gain. What medicines today are prepared by many pharmaceutical companies- the major intention behind this stand is to gain more and more money rather than a service. In the name of service today many pharmaceutical companies are actually cheating to people.
Let understand this in somewhat detail. Today when any pharmaceutical company releases any new product in the market, behind that product that particular company already spent more than 10-12 years for research. This 10-12 years research duration is to be called as “Clinical trials” in pharmaceutical terms. Total duration has been split into 4 phases as phase-1, phase-2, phase-3 and phase-4. During these four stages different kind of research and activities are done regarding that particular drug product. After that when FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved that particular product to release in market then company releases that product in market for selling. In India to sell any pharmaceutical product in market one must have to take a permission from Drug Controller of India.
Such kind of Clinical Trial is generally done on healthy human volunteers. Clinical trial is to be done on human volunteer with his prior permission and consent. Main purposes behind organizing such type of clinical trial are to understand the pattern of effect of that particular drug on human body and to check out how it react with it and what effects it gives finally. So this type of trial may be sometimes put life in danger also. There are some international rules and regulation regarding testing to be done upon healthy human volunteers. Total 5000-10000 healthy human volunteers are used for one clinical trial investigation. There would be no single information regarding the particular drug to be tested upon human volunteers. Due to this, in many cases many people lose their lives also during such types of trials. Some rules and regulations for the healthy human volunteers who themselves ready to participate in such types of trials are;
1. There will be no any trial upon particular human forcefully without his permission.
2. There must be a written consent from individual human volunteers regarding proceeding the test upon him/her.
3. All the volunteers must have been educated with all the possibly benefits and side effects to be aroused during the trials truly and honestly.
4. Once trial started, then also if any of the human volunteers wish to dissociate from it, then there must not be any force to be done upon him to continue with trials.
5. If any of human volunteers dies during trials due to fatal side effects then responsible company must have to pay full money and other services as per internationally designed laws.
6. During trials if any of the human volunteers gets any of the problems, then the whole treatment charge and care have to be paid by company.
7. If any of the pharmaceutical companies found to be ruining this rules and not following properly will be sentenced with proper charges legally and its license then will be cancelled forever.
This is a little glimpse of such internationally designed rules and regulations for clinical trials. These rules and laws have been designed by so called well educated western countries and their pharmaceutical allies in collaboration with FDA and WHO. It is must for every pharmaceutical companies which commencing clinical trials to follow these “Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence”.
We have one saying in Gujarati: “who belongs to stick, to whom belongs to buffalo” (jeni laathi teni bhens), meaning all things go in their hands who have power. Proving true to this proverb, today many pharmaceuticals companies and their allies are playing with the health of many people from poor countries in Africa and other Asiatic countries. Under the delusion of 007-license to kill, these countries are actually slaughtering these so called human subjects in the name of service. Today in many countries like Kenya, Swaziland, Nigeria, Sudan– these pharmaceuticals companies are running with their clinical trials camps. They have made these all 3rd world countries as their open laboratory to test their various drugs.
Today media and press are praising for the humanitarian reliefs in the form of food and medicines supplied from such western countries and companies. Actually these countries and companies are throwing chilly in our eyes. Making us fool. How many people till today dared to know about the fact regarding such humanitarian relief packages…? About which medicines they are supplying…? Is that particular drug been available in international market…? Is it been approved by the Drug controller board of those particular countries…? No one actually care for this all. And if anyone dare to stand against the heinous programme of these pharmaceutical companies, he/she been killed or murdered or been trapped in laws of infinite web trap. Few years back, an English movie was released named, “The Last Guardener”, in which the oppressions done by such pharmaceuticals giants upon the poor people of Africa have been picturised very truly. Very nice movie it was. Must see if get time.
Such crushing under the curtain of clinical trials is not new. But, toady this all has been suddenly reminded after the confession of Barrack Obama, the president of United States of America, who confessed against the world on October 2, 2010 regarding the illegal practices of such clinical trials been run under the cover and protection of America itself. After this confession one more page of humiliation and oppression upon poor of African and 3rd world countries been opened.
On 2nd October, 2010 president of USA Barrack Obama called to the President of Guatemala, Mr. Alvaro Colonen, and apologized to him for running an illegal clinical trials in his country without informing to the government and patients too. Obama confessed, “…Our government has done illegal clinical trials of Penicillin drug for ‘Syphilis’ upon your citizens in the mental hospital of the Guatemala bay in your country 60 years ago, about which no one knows till today. We are really sorry for committing such trials without any prior consent and information to your government, but today we apologize to your government and countrymen for our action. USA is hoping for better future relations with Guatemala…”
Penicillin was the first antibiotic to be used clinically first time in 1947. That time American government has started the clinical trials of this penicillin for the ‘Syphilis’, the 3rd most common disease in America till now, upon the Guatemalan citizens without their knowledge and any prior consent. This trial ran for many years and finally went fail without any beneficial outcome or result. That time this whole incident has been buried and conferred as most confidential. Lastly who to suffer was no one but the innocent citizens of Guatemala. Till today after releasing this facts no action has been taken against those companies and people involved in it. Total 700 human were used ‘involuntarily’ without their any prior consent in that penicillin trial. Most of them have been died due to severe side effects during the trials and rests are passing their least lives in pity situations.
Syphilis is sexually transmitted diseases. Today it is the 3rd most common disease in USA, UK, France and other western countries. In USA and UK about 70% youth is suffering from this disease. In this disease it mainly affects upon the skin. Red spots on the private parts and then pus formation over there are common symptoms. This disease is actually been gifted to this culture due to common unsafe sex, frequently changing sex partners and because of the so called liberal Government policies. Today this condition is actually challenging them.
This was not a first conspiracy of American Government. In the history of such defamed clinical trials, before also many such incidents have been associated with America. The scientist who was involved in this Penicillin trial, the same was involved and supervising another much defamed clinical trial named as TUSKEGEE in between 1932-1972 promoted by America. Tuskegee trials too have brought many criticisms over America that time, but as believed itself as a dictator of the world, American government cares for no one. In Tuskegee trials also, many black men from Alabama County have been brought and same test for Syphilis was carried out upon them without their prior consent and knowledge. When this information once leaked that time also American government tried to bury this all matter very shamelessly.
After this Guatemalan incident, whole world has condemned this heinous activities led by America in the name of services. Many people now started suspecting that, if so – then still how many such trials been running behind the curtain of service by America and other western countries…? Such types of Service Killings must be stopped. It is been seen that such pharmaceuticals giants are having a great influence over the government of their particular countries, so the policies and laws of these particular countries are actually nourishing their purposes. But- lastly who to suffer is no one but I – you and we have to…!
After knowing such black sides of these pharmaceutical giants at last hoping for social awareness regarding their health. We must wake up and raise our voice against such oppression in the name of services…!!
